GIRLS’ TENNIS - Pioneers 5, Colonels 4

WINCHESTER — Millbrook’s Abbey Taylor and Zoe Ackerman won the deciding match at No. 3 doubles in a Northwestern District triumph at James Wood on Thursday.

The match was tied 3-3 after singles. No. 1 Cecelia Cress (8-0), No. 2 Kyle Buza (8-6) and No. 6 Ackerman (8-3) won for the Pioneers (11-2), while No. 3 Lily Kimble (8-6), No. 4 Carlee Gosline (8-2) and No. 5 Morgan Burner (8-5) netted wins for the Colonels (7-4).

In doubles, No. 1 Cress and Buza rolled 8-1, while No. 2 Kimble and Burner won 8-4 to tie it. Ackerman and Taylor outlasted Gosline and Katelyn Harris 8-6.
