GIRLS’ TENNIS - Warriors 5, Colonels 2

STEPHENS CITY — Defending champion and top-seeded Sherando advanced to the title match in the Conference 21 West Tournament by knocking off James Wood on Tuesday.

The Warriors (17-0) received singles wins from No. 2 Abigail Sears (6-3, 6-1), No. 3 Sarah-Beth Blaney (4-6, 6-4, 6-2), No. 4 Kathryn Robertson (6-4, 6-2) and No. 6 Maddy Woolever (6-0, 6-2). They clinched after Sears and Robertson cruised 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

The Colonels received singles wins from No. 1 Megan Hillyard (6-0, 6-0) and No. 5 Morgan Burner (7-5, 4-6, 6-1).

Sherando hosts Handley at 4 p.m. today.
