GIRLS’ TENNIS - Colonels 7, Cougars 2
WINCHESTER — James Wood won five singles matches and two doubles matches to defeat Kettle Run in its Class 4 Northwestern District opener on Wednesday.
Singles winners for the Colonels (2-0) were No. 1 Lily Kimble (8-4), No. 2 Taylin Crosen (8-1), No. 3 Morgan Burner (8-5), No. 4 Katelyn Harris (8-5) and No. 5 Carley Pennington (8-6).
Kimble and Crosen won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Burner and Harris won 6-4 at No. 2 in a match that was cut short because of weather and the fact that the Colonels had already won the team competition.
