TENNIS - Regional brackets announced

WINCHESTER — Handley's Nick Mueller, the Clss 4 Northwestern District champion, will be in action in singles and in doubles in in the Region 4C tournament, which begins Monday at Slaughter Tennis Pavilion.

On Monday at noon, Northwestern District champ Mueller (17-0) faces Dulles District runner-up Luke McMullen (10-2) of Loudoun County in a semifinal at noon. Northwestern District runner-up Josh Dalton (13-4) of Millbrook will take on Dulles District champ Chris Huynh (11-1) in the other semifinal at noon. The championship match is at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mueller and Jack Volinsky (17-0) will face Dulles runners-up McMullen and Williams (8-4) at 2 p.m. in the doubles semifinals. Northwestern runners-up Dalton and Drake Wilfong (15-3) battle Huynh and  Anshul Rangwani (12-0) in the other semifinal. The championship match is at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

In girls' action, Northwestern runner-up Alex Venturato (10-3) faces Dulles champ Fionna Flores (12-0) of Loudoun County at noon Monday. That winner will face the winner of Northwestern champ Jennifer Adgate (11-3) of Fauquier and Dulles runner-up Shelby Haeff (10-2) of Riverside in Tuesday's title match at noon.

In girls' doubles, Northwestern champion Lily Kimble and Morgan Burner (13-4) of James Wood will face Dulles runners-up Flores and Madeline Mills at 2 p.m. on Monday. That winner will meet the winner between Northwestern runner-up Adgate and Keely Scott and Dulles champs Haeff and Ariella Gerrig in Tuesday's title match at 2 p.m.

If inclement weather persists, matched will be moved to the Stonebrook Club. Only the winners will advance to state competition.
