Wolfe to face Wilson in girls' singles final

WINCHESTER- Sherando junior Sarah Wolfe upset Handley sophomore Jessie Nolan in the semifinals of the Northwestern District girls' tennis singles tournament Tuesday at Winchester Country Club.
The No. 3-seeded Wolfe - who had lost all three previous matches against the No. 2-seeded Nolan this season - won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
In Thursday's finals at Millbrook, Wolfe will face top-seeded Headley Wilson of James Wood, who defeated Julie Hoverter of Skyline 6-0, 6-0 Tuesday.
Wilson was the district singles runner-up last year.
Wilson and Tarah Wampler, last year's doubles runners-up, advanced to Thursday's finals with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Wolfe and Aly Myers.
They'll play the Handley duo of Nolan and Kathryn Bock, who beat Millbrook's Alena Beasley and Jenny Beasley 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.
Sherando's top-seeded boys' doubles team of Kaleb Nguyen and Trey Scott swept James Wood's Devin Carter and Chris Haskiell 6-0, 6-0 in Tuesday's semifinals.
They'll face Handley's Taylor Watts and Kyle Stickley, who defeated Millbrook's Matthew Cress and Greg Meuser 6-2, 6-1.
Nguyen, a senior, will play for his third straight district singles title Thursday after sweeping Carter 6-0, 6-0.
Handley's Stephen Boppe also reached the singles final with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Cress.
All of the district finalists qualify for the Region II tournament.
