CLARKE SOFTBALL BEATS COLONELS

BERRYVILLE- Clarke County junior Sarah Herndon limited James Wood to just four hits and one run through six innings in the Eagles' 8-4 non-district softball victory over the Colonels at Grubbs Field on Saturday.

Herndon (2-1) struck out 11 and left after six innings with an 8-1 lead.

Clarke County (2-1) broke a 1-1 game with three runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth.

Herndon went 3 for 4 with three doubles and an RBI, and Helen Good went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs for the Eagles. Olivia Gore went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Kiersten Cochran drove in two runs for Clarke.

James Wood sophomore Kierstyn Peacoe allowed nine hits and struck out six in the loss.

Racheal Largent went 2 for 2 with an RBI, and Morgan Sykes went 2 for 3 for the Colonels.
