SOFTBALL: Colonels 4, Pioneers 1

WINCHESTER — James Wood took advantage of a pair of errors to score all four of its runs in the third inning of a win over Millbrook Monday afternoon.

The Colonels (5-6, 4-2 Northwestern) trailed early on as the Pioneers (5-8, 1-4) pushed across a run in the first inning when Sydney Barr doubled with two outs and then came around on an error.

But James Wood got the run back and more in the third thanks to two errors, two singles, two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly.

Kierstyn Peacoe took the win for the Colonels, allowing just two hits over four innings while striking out five, and Mackenzi Steele the loss for the Pioneers, giving up two earned runs on five hits while striking out eight.

McKenzie Garrett, Charlotte Viands and Taylor Rizzari all tallied RBIs for James Wood in the win.
