Softball: Applemen 20, Colonels 5

WINCHESTER — With neither team throwing its ace there was plenty of offense between James Wood and Musselman (W.Va.) in a non-district game Friday.

The Colonels (6-8) totaled 11 hits on the night but it wasn’t nearly enough as the visiting Applemen totaled 22 hits, three home runs and blew the game open with 10 runs in the seventh inning.

Jessy Shipman finished 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored, Hayley Whitacre went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Whitney Dick went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Sophomore Victoria Armel took the loss in the circle, lasting three innings before being relieved by classmate Taylor Rizzari.
