Softball - Pioneers 5, Colonels 4

WINCHESTER — The Millbrook softball team earned its first Northwestern District regular season title in program history Friday night with a 5-4 road win over James Wood.

The Pioneers (14-2, 12-0 Northwestern) were tied 4-4 in the fifth inning with the Colonels when junior Sarah Clark (2 for 3, home run, 2 RBIs) hit an RBI double to drive in what would prove to be the game-winning run.

Senior Mackenzi Steele sealed the win with 32/3 innings of scoreless relief and junior Hannah Lockhart hit the second of back-to-back home runs following Clark in the fourth.

Sophomore Taylor Woolsey went all seven innings for the Colonels (5-13, 4-6), allowing just four hits and going 2 for 4 with a run scored at the plate.

Freshman Alyssa Brown finished 2 for 4 and senior Kierstyn Peacoe went 1 for 2 with an RBI.
