WINCHESTER — Lani Spielman and Lauren King combined to pitch a five-inning perfect game as James Wood beat Handley in a Northwestern District and Conference 21 West game that was played after the Colonels lost to Sherando.

Spielman struck out seven over three innings and King struck out three over two innings. Also for James Wood, King was 3 for 4, Rizzari was 2 for 2 with a double, and Taylor Woolsey was 1 for 3 with a walk.

Handley fell to 2-14 overall, 2-6 in the district and 1-4 in the conference. The Judges will be the fifth seed in the conference tournament and travel to No. 4 Harrisonburg for a 6 p.m. quarterfinal game on Friday.
