James Wood softball tops Kettle Run in district opener

NOKESVILLE — Lani Spielman and Ivy Rosenberry each struck out six batters and combined for a three-hit shutout as the James Wood softball team beat Kettle Run 6-0 in its Class 4 Northwestern District opener on Tuesday.

Spielman started and pitched 32/3 innings and allowed two hits (she also had an RBI single) and Rosenberry pitched 31/3 innings and allowed only one hit (she went 1 for 2 with two walks at the plate).

Also for James Wood (2-0), Rebecca Boone went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Camryn Rizzari had an RBI single, and Lindsey Anderson went 1 for 1 with two walks.
