Sherando wins in Softball

STEPHENS CITY — Seven players had multiple hits as the Sherando High School softball team beat visiting James Wood 21-1 on Monday evening.

Kenzie Lane went 3-for-3 with five RBIs, while Nicole Musser and Sam Meeker also went 3-for-3 for the Warriors (13-5, 13-2 Northwestern).

Kourtney Paige went 2-for-2 with a home run, Brittany Larrick was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Amanda Lizama and Lexie Meeker each added a pair of hits.

Sherando had a total of 19 hits in the game shortened to 41/2 innings.

Musser (12-3) pitched the first two innings, and Ashley Shoemaker struck out four over the final three.

Erin McCarthy drove in the lone run for James Wood (3-16, 2-13), which had its night game scheduled against Millbrook called off.
