Colonels' offense struggles in loss
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- Savannah Williams pitches six solid innings for Hedgesville as the Eagles defeated James Wood, 4-1. Williams allowed no runs over six innings, while catcher Paige Reed went 2-for-3 at the plate, notching two RBI in the win. For James Wood, the Colonels managed just three hits and continued to struggle to put runs on the board.
"We just don't do the things to win games," James Wood coach Ted McDaniel said. "We had runners on 1st and 2nd in the third inning with no outs and we didn't score. Then we scored in the seventh but it was too late. The whole team just seems to be in a hitting slump."
