Stephens City — Amanda Lutz fired a two-hitter as Sherando opened Northwestern District play with a comfortable win over rival James Wood.

Lutz struck out three, allowing an earned run, two hits and two walks.

Erica Doyle went 2 for 3 and Lacey Taylor was 2 for 4 to lead the Warriors offensively. Jessie Seymour added a triple.

James Wood (1-6) made four errors in the loss. Rachael Largent went 2 for 3 to lead the Colonels. Morgan Baker went 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Whitney Dennis also went 1 for 3 for Wood.
