Softball: Hawks 7, Colonels 1

WINCHESTER -- Skyline's Sarah Beamer, having not pitched since Thursday because of rain, showed her rust for about an inning.

Beamer gave up a leadoff single in the first, hit the third batter she faced, then gave up an earned run.

It didn't take long for Beamer to get back to her usual self: She struck out the side in the second inning, totaled seven strikeouts for the game, and gave up only that initial earned run.

"She didn't pitch in a while," Skyline coach Richard Armstrong said, "but after that she got into the flow of the game."

Sabrie Neeb hat two hits, one being a double, the other being a homer in the seventh. Julie Shifflett and Tommi Michael both went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Morgan Sykes was 1-for-2 with a double and a stolen base, and Whitney Dennis went 1-for-4 and scored a run for the Colonels (3-16, 1-6 Northwestern).
