WINCHESTER- Sarah Kleinfelter hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to lift Fauquier to a non-district win at James Wood Thursday.
Kleinfelter, who also hit a solo home run in the second, struck out 16 batters for the Falcons (12-1).
James Wood (11-4-1) forced Kleinfelter to hit that homer by scoring the tying run in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out single by Erin McCarthy (2 for 4, two RBIs) that plated Morgan Baker.
The Colonels were also led by Morgan Sykes (2 for 4 with a double and a triple). Kierstyn Peacoe (9-3) allowed six earned runs, eight hits, two walks and struck out eight.
