TRACK AND FIELD - Colonels sweep Hawks
WINCHESTER — The James Wood boys won 72-56 and the girls won 110-20 in a Northwestern District dual meet with Skyline Wednesday.
The Colonel boys were led by Chris Vitagliano, who won the 200 meters (23.8 seconds), the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches), the long jump (18-81/2) and the triple jump (35-11).
Also for James Wood, Andrew Shade won the 800 (2:13.1) and 1,600 (4:52.7), Ford Reed won the 110 hurdles (22.1), Landon Rutherford won the shot put (43-7), and the 4x400 team of Tyler Ostinato, Donte Henry, Jonny Bohler and Vitagliano won in 3:56.30.
The James Wood girls were led by Rene Rosso, who won the 100 hurdles (18.1), the high jump (4-6) and the long jump (14-4).
Also for the Colonels, Becca Ferrulli won the 200 (28.6) and the triple jump (31-4), Maria Harter won the 800 (2:42.5), Lydia Sunderlin won the 3,200 (14:29.6), Kayla Shaffer won the 300 hurdles (55.6), Grace Greene won the shot put (32-9) and Sarah Johnson won the discus (116-5).
James Wood also won all three relays. The 4x100 team (Princess Sales, Ferrulli, Amanda Funk, Kara Norman) ran a time of 53.1, the 4x400 team (Norman, Sales, Rosso, Ferrulli) ran a time of 4:52.50, and the 4x800 team (Sophia Dorsey, Alina Hackney, Haile Esparza, Harter) ran a time of 11:07.9.
