GIRLS' TRACK & FIELD - Wolverine Classic

PURCELLVILLE — Sherando junior Davina Lane won both the 100-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles to highlight local performances on Friday night at the Wolverine Classic at Woodgrove High School.

Lane won the 100 hurdles in 15.38 seconds to win by 0.12 over Rock Ridge’s Ashley Nolyn, and she won the 300 hurdles by .01 over North Stafford’s Jami Lewis in 44.63.

North Stafford won the 22-school meet with 81 points. James Wood was second with 68, Sherando was sixth with 39, Millbrook was ninth with 30 and Handley tied for 11th with 25. Clarke County did not score.

For James Wood, senior Grace Greene won the discus (121 feet, six inches) by five inches over Strasburg’s Rachel Funkhouser, and Greene also took third in the shot put 35-4 ½. Sophomore Rene Rosso placed second in the triple jump (33-10), second in the long jump (17-0 ¼), third in the high jump (5-0), third in the 100 hurdles (16.08) and third in the 300 hurdles (48.21).

Sherando was also led by freshman Olivia Couillard (second in the 3,200, 11:37.02),

Freshman Taylor Beard led Handley by winning the high jump (5-2) and Mellany Groll paced Millbrook (third in the 800, 2:28.45).
