James Wood High School 16-year-old junior

Sport: Track & Field. Events: 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters

Parent: Amanda Lindquist. Hometown: Winchester

What to you love about track & field: I like how you can have personal goals, but contribute to the team, too. Other people on the team don’t determine how you do, but you can still contribute to that team goal.

Most memorable moment in track & field: Qualifying for states and breaking 10 minutes in the 3,200 just this past week. I ran 9:58 and my previous PR was 10:09.

Most embarrassing moment in track & field: I’m not the most coordinated, so I trip and fall quite a bit. One time in the locker room, I was trying to jump over the bench, but by feet clipped it and I did a face plant. That was pretty bad.

Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: Stephen Curry, I just think he’s cool and he’s an up-and-coming basketball player; Steve Prefontaine, I liked his ideas about running and I would like to talk to him; and Martin Luther King because he was a really good speaker and I would like to listen to him.

If you were stranded on an island, what’s the one thing you’d want to have with you: A boat.

Favorite teacher: My fifth grade teacher was my favorite teacher, Mr. [Michael] Mowchan, because we did tons of games and stuff outside. It seemed like we were always doing something that kept us entertained most of the morning.

Favorite athlete: Bryce Harper

Favorite sports team: Washington Nationals and Redskins

Best live sporting event you’ve been to: I saw Michael Jordan play one of his last games when he was with the Wizards.

Favorite movie: “Pulp Fiction”

Favorite Book: “Lord of the Flies,” by William Golding

Favorite song: “Alabama Lingo,” by Lil Mook.

Favorite website: ESPN

Plans after high school: I haven’t decided what I want to major in, but I want to go to a four-year school. I want to run in college. It will probably be a smaller school. There’s been a lot of pressure to make a decision now, but I’ve been waiting and now it’s starting to creep up.
