TRACK AND FIELD - Colonel girls win at Strasburg

STRASBURG — The Sherando boys and the James Wood girls each won team titles at the 18-school Ram Country Track and Field Invitational on Saturday at Strasburg High School.

The Warrior boys won with 841/2 points, with Central taking second with 73. Handley was fifth with 32 points, Clarke County was sixth with 301/2 and James Wood was seventh with 291/2.

Sherando was led by Jacquari Hayes (first in the long jump, 22-11/2, and triple jump, 41-51/2), Isaiah Allen (first in the shot put, 48-7, third in the discus, 134-5), David Restrepo (first in the 300-meter hurdles, 41.33), Hayden Williams (second in the 3,200, 9:54.75), its 4x400 team (second in 3:42.53) and Kyle Holliday (third in the 110 hurdles, 16.54).

Handley was led by Trey Causey (first in the high jump, 6-6), John Delaney (first in the 3,200, 9:53.34) and Eli Bell (third in the 800, 2:06.84).

Clarke County was led by its 4x100 team of Daniel Braithwaite, Peter Terzian, Patrick Cleary and Tanner Dinkins (first in 45.48), Andy Bonett (second in the triple jump, 41-3) and Nick Dawson (second in the 1,600, 4:45.3/4).

James Wood was led by Chris Vitagliano (second in the long jump, 21-01/2), its 4x100 team (second in 45.62) and William Crowder (third in the 100, 11.57).

In the girls’ meet, James Wood scored 92 points, and Sherando was second with 80. Handley was fifth with 55 points and Clarke County was ninth with 21.

James Wood was led by Emma Hammond (first in the triple jump, 37-4, third in the long jump, 16-6.3/4, and high jump, 5-0), Kenzie Konyar (first in the 1,600, 5:28.05), Rene Rosso (second in the long jump, 17-21/2, the triple jump, 33-11, and the high jump, 5-0; third in the 100 hurdles, 16.17, and 300 hurdles, 49.07), Hannah Cavanaugh (third in the discus, 107-7), Maria Harter (third in the 3,200, 12:20.43) and its 4x400 team (4:24.82).

Sherando was led by Davina Lane (first in the long jump, 17-3.5, the 100 hurdles, 14.88, the 300 hurdles, 47.04 and the 200, 26.62), Olivia Couillard (first in the 3,200, 12:02.82), Ania Summers (third in 100, 13.40), its 4x100 team (third in 53.73) and its 4x800 team (third in 10:28.69).

Handley was led by Taylor Beard (first in the high jump, 5-6, second in the 300 hurdles, 48.94), Casey Nelson (first in the shot put, 37-5), Kristin Blake (first in the 800, 2:28.84) and its 4x100 team (second in 53.36).

Clarke County was led by Madison Webster (third in 1,600, 5:34.21).
