Track and Field: James Wood sweeps tri

WOODSTOCK — The James Wood boys and girls each swept a tri meet with Handley and Central Wednesday.

The Colonels boys defeated Central 107-24 and Handley 95-37. Handley beat Central 84-42.

James Wood was led by John Simms, who won the 100 meters in 11.2 seconds and the 200 in 23.3. Handley was led by Vy Davis, who took the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) and the long jump (20-5).

In the girls’ meet, James Wood beat Central 88-44 and Handley 73-59. Handley beat Central 83-45.

The Colonels’ Courtney Magaw was the only double-winner, taking the shot put (31 feet, 43/4 inches) and the discus (90-10).
