Jump for joy: Smith siblings excel in track and field at James Wood

WOODSTOCK -- The thought of his older sister going away to college was weighing on Mason's Smith mind. So throughout basketball season, the James Wood sophomore continually tried to talk her into coming out for the Colonels' track team this spring.
Haley Smith, now a Wood senior who hadn't participated in track since eighth grade, finally gave in.
"I really just wanted to be able to spend more time with her before she goes away to school," Mason Smith said. "I'm going to really miss her next year. She did really well in middle school, so I knew she would do well."
