Northwestern Track: Day 1

WINCHESTER -- On the first day of the Northwestern District Track and Field Championships, Warren County's boys and Skyline's girls proved just how strong they are in the field events.

Paced by thrower Rueben Shanks and jumper Japheth Chunn, the Wildcats' boys took a half-point lead, 53 1/2 to 53, on meet favorite James Wood on Wednesday night at Millbrook High School with six events completed.

On the girls' side, the Hawks loaded up in the throws by scoring 34 of their 48 points to trail Brentsville by two points heading in to today's all-track finals. The meet picks back up today at 5 p.m.
