Track & Field: Wolverine Classic

PURCELLVILLE — Noah Harris, Micah Carlson and Quincy Walker each took individual titles to lead the Sherando boys to a second-place team finish at the Wolverine Classic on Friday.

Host Woodgrove led 21 teams that scored in the boys' event with 96 points. The Warriors totaled 65. Handley (37) took sixth. Clarke County (31.5) was 10th, while James Wood (29) placed 11th and Millbrook (5) was 20th.

Harris cleared 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump. Carlson dominated the discus with a winning throw of 152-7 that was more than 11 feet better than the runner-up finisher. Walker had a toss of 45-4.5 to capture the shot put. The Warriors also won the 4x800 relay in 8:12.95.

Handley's Will Pardue (4:19.10) topped James Wood's Ethan Pratt-Perez (4:21.73) as locals finished 1-2 in the 1,600 final.

Among the 22 girls' teams that scored, Fauquier won with 96 points. James Wood (52) and Sherando (42), placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Handley (12.5) took 14th, while Clarke County (10) finished 17th and Millbrook (5) was 21st.
