Colonel boys best in county

STEPHENS CITY— Lauren Wilkins won three events, and Shelby Spangler and Keyaira Newman each won two, as the Sherando High School girls’ track and field team won Wednesday’s Frederick County track meet.

The Warriors finished with 93 points, distancing themselves from Millbrook (50.5) and James Wood (23.5).

James Wood won the boys’ event, scoring 71 points. Sherando had 49 and Millbrook 47.

Wilkins was victorious in the 100-meter dash, the long jump and the triple jump.

Newman won the shot put and discus, and Spangler finished first in the 400 and 800.

James Thorne was a triple winner for the Colonels’ boys’ team, taking the top spot in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. John Simms won the 100 and 200 for Wood.
