First Team

John Simms, Wood - Junior - Sprints

The area's best in the 100 and 200, Simms placed first in Region II in the 100 and first in the Northwestern District in the 100, 200 and 400. Simms set a district meet record of 10.81 seconds in the 100, the fastest recorded time in Group AA this year. A hamstring injury prevented Simms from competing at the state meet.

Mason Smith

James Wood - Senior - Utility

Smith was one of only two athletes to rank among the area's top three in four individual events. Smith placed 25th in Group AA in the 200. In Region II, Smith placed sixth in the 400. In the Northwestern District, Smith placed second in the 200 and 400, fourth in the high jump, fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. Smith will compete in track and basketball for Christopher Newport next year.
