Posted: December 1, 2015
Andrew Hinebaugh
James Wood High School 18-year-old senior
Sport: Basketball
Position: Forward
Parent: Kimberly Hinebaugh.
Hometown: Friendsville, Md. — I moved here when I was two.
Nicknames: Chris — I was just hanging out [with friends in high school] and everyone’s name started with a ‘C’ so they just gave me a ‘C’-name for some reason.
What do you love about basketball: The intensity — it always keeps your adrenaline up.
Most memorable moment in basketball: The one that stands out I was injured for last year, but when we beat Loudoun County last year, it was a big win. I don’t know if we were technically the underdog but I considered us the underdog and we pulled it out. It was a good team win.
Most embarrassing moment in basketball: One film session after a game last year on a Saturday morning after a bad loss, our coach [Tim Wygant] said to me “Andrew’s not the most athletic player on the team but he always knows what he’s doing or he does everything right and always does what I tell him to do” and so know the guys will say “athleticism” to me now.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: Michael Jordan, just because I feel he’s the greatest to ever play; Adam Sandler, because he’s hilarious; Hines Ward, because I’m a Steelers fan and I’ve always admired him.
If you were stranded on an island, what’s the one thing you’d want to have with you: Just lots of food.
Favorite teacher: [James Wood High School teacher] Brian Sullivan, it’s always fun in his class [probability and stats]. We joke around and have fun.
Favorite athlete: Michael Jordan, just how he played, his demeanor and his legacy.
Favorite team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Best live sporting event you’ve been to: Probably a Pirates game at PNC Park. They ended up winning on a walk-off hit. I think it was against the Marlins.
Favorite movie: “Step Brothers”
Favorite song: Any hip-hop, country or rap music.
Favorite website: ESPN
Plans after high school: I want to go to college and attend a four-year college. I’m looking at JMU and I’m thinking of doing something in business.
