Sherando boys pull away against James Wood

STEPHENS CITY — Sherando sent out its seniors as winners as the Warriors pulled away for a 69-51 boys’ basketball victory over James Wood on Senior Night.

Senior Michael Usa had four points in each of a pair of 6-0 runs in the first quarter that gave the Warriors (9-11, 4-6 district) the lead for good. Sherando led 14-8 after the opening quarter and pushed the margin to 31-20 at halftime.

The Colonels (0-18, 0-9) closed within 36-30 early in the third quarter, but the Warriors closed the quarter with a 9-5 run and opened the final period with a 19-3 outburst to take a 64-38 lead.
