Kees' basket at buzzer gives Wood boys a comeback win over Strasburg
WINCHESTER — Ashton Kees' close-range basket off a baseline inbound pass from Kemper Omps as time expired gave the James Wood boys' basketball team a 51-50 win over Strasburg on Friday night.
James Wood (2-3) outscored Strasburg 17-9 in the fourth quarter and capped off the comeback with the basket by Kees, who received a bounce pass on the left block of the lane and shot the ball over his head as he made his way toward a defender in the lane. The ball bounced off the rim once and went in.
The Colonels trailed 21-7 after one quarter, held the Rams to two points in the second quarter to get within 23-18, and trailed 41-34 after three quarters.
