Pioneers use defense to take district lead

WINCHESTER -- Millbrook used a variety of junk defenses to shut down James Wood leading scorer Heather Armel and move into sole possession of first-place with a 59-41 win in the Northwestern District girls basketball on Friday night.

The Pioneers jumped out early and held on for a 59-41 win as Courtni Green had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Pioneers. Millbrook had freshman Sara Mead guarding Armel, who only scored six points, most of the night.
