Colonels’ Carr will step down

WINCHESTER — James Wood High School girls’ basketball coach Jamie Carr informed his players after last Thursday’s Northwestern District tournament quarterfinal loss to Sherando that he will resign at the end of the season.
Carr replaced long-time coach John Maphis in 1999 and guided the Colonels’ program through some challenging years, including three seasons in the Group AAA Commonwealth District and then another difficult time when James Wood’s enrollment split to form Millbrook High School in 2003.
