WINCHESTER- Shannan Thorne's triple double of 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 steals paced James Wood to a 43-38 girls' basketball victory over Woodgrove in Friday night's season opener for both teams.

Katelyn Pennington added 15 points for the Colonels.

James Wood held a 23-13 lead at the half, and the Colonels never trailed after the break.

Stephaine Purnell scored a game-high 20 points to pace the Wolverines.
