Vitagliano receives league honors
ROY, N.Y. — Former James Wood standout Matthew Vitagliano was selected the Liberty League’s Men’s Field Performer of the Week.
At the multi-divisional David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University, Vitagliano finished sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.64 meters. There were 28 competitors in the event, which featured primarily Division I athletes. He was first among the nine jumpers from Division III schools.
This is the second weekly award of the season for Vitagliano. The senior was first honored after defeating 17 others in the triple jump (14.38 meters) at the UMass Boston Season Opener in December.
An electrical engineering major, Vitagliano was a CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team honoree last season.
