Rosso earns All-East honors at ECAC meet

5c7dbda6b20e3.imageBOSTON — James Wood graduate and Mount St. Mary’s University freshman Rene Rosso placed eighth in the heptathlon to earn All-East honors on Friday at the ECAC Division I Women’s Track & Field Championships at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.

Rosso scored a personal-record 3,217 points, the fourth-best total in school history, in the five-event competition.

Fourteen women competed in the heptathlon. Rosso tied for third out of the 14 women in the high jump (5 feet, 4.25 inches). She also placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.15 seconds), seventh in the long jump (17-1.25), 12th in the shot put (27-3.75) and 13th in the 800 (2:43.79).

Liberty’s Kylie Polsgrove won the heptathlon with 3,986 points, and James Madison’s Nicolette Serratore was second with 3,512 points.
