Indoor track: Wood boys 11th at Hagerstown meet

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Led by boys’ shot put champion Jude Miller, the James Wood boys placed 11th and the girls took 16th at the 17-school Ray Schriver Invitational at Hagerstown Community College on Friday.

The senior Miller took first of 46 throwers with a state-qualifying mark of 47 feet, 9 inches, which is the school’s No. 2 mark all-time for indoor track. The Colonel boys scored 17 points. Linganore took first (80.5 points) and Middletown was second (68).

In the girls’ meet, Hereford was first with 95 points and Smithsburg placed second (92). James Wood scored 2 points.

Other James Wood boys’ leaders: 4x400 relay (6th, Jorel Baltimore, Brayden Pineda, Ivan Andrews, Connor Kenney-Fitzner, 3:54.97); Baltimore (7th, 55 hurdles, 8.96), Duncan Stanton (8th, 55 hurdles, 8.96); Sawyer Speet (8th, shot put, 38-8.75.

James Wood girls’ leader: Isabelle French (7th, 55 hurdles, 9.83).
