Judges, Colonels split
WINCHESTER- The Handley boys and the James Wood girls were each victorious in Northwestern District dual meet action Friday night.

The Judges boys - who took first in every event - won by a score of 127-42 and the Colonel girls won 89-81.

The Handley boys were led by Daniel Flax, who won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 27.18 seconds and the 400 free in 5:09.29; Samuel Stearns, who took the 200 individual medley in 2:42.17 and 100 butterfly in 1:12.13; and Taylor Watts, who won the 100 freestyle in 58.49 and the 100 backstroke in 1:09.65.

That trio also teamed with Jarrett Cestaro to win the 200 medley relay in 2:07.25 and the 200 free relay in 4:34.36.

In the girls' meet, James Wood was led by Alex Lew, who placed first in the 50 free in a state-qualifying time of 29.35 and also won the 100 free in 1:07.09; and Sara Fergus, who won the 200 IM in 2:38.32 and the 100 butterfly in 1:15.61.

The duo teamed up with Kaye Whitacre and McKenzie McNemar to win the 200 medley relay in a state-qualifying time of 2:14.53, and the same four girls placed first in the 200 free relay in 2:05.52.

The Handley girls were led by Sparkle Kitchin, who placed first in the 200 free in 2:24.08 and first in the 400 free in 5:12.62. Kitchin helped the 400 free relay team win in 4:47.16.
