HAGERSTOWN, Md.- The Millbrook boys' and girls' swimming teams each took second at the Erik Meinelschmidt Memorial Pentathlon Saturday at the Hagerstown YMCA.

The Pioneers boys took second in the four-team meet with 397 points. Chambersburg (Pa.), took first with 561.5, St. Maria Goretti (Md.) was third with 133.5, and James Wood was fourth with 73.

For Millbrook, Thomas Northrup took second overall with 103 points in the meet that requires swimmers to compete in the 100-yard butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley.

Northrup took first in the 100 butterfly with a state-qualifying time of 56.51 seconds, fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.38, third in the 100 breaststroke in a state-qualifying 1:04.89, fourth in the 100 free in 53.79, and second in the 200 IM in 2:10.94.

Others who led Millbrook were Michael Span (fourth with 94 points; sixth in 100 butterfly in 1:00.92, second in 100 backstroke in 59.29, fifth in 100 breaststroke in 1:10.13, third in 100 free in 53.55; fifth in 200 IM in 2:14.57). Nick Patton (eighth overall with 67 points) placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.05.

The James Wood boys were led by Connor Babington, who placed fifth in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.62.

The Millbrook girls took second with 260 points. Chambersburg was first with 626, Goretti was third with 254, and James Wood was fourth with 25.

The Pioneers were led by Katie Kozlowski, who placed eighth overall with 63 points. She placed second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.35 and fourth in the 200 IM in 2:29.56. Simone Jarvis placed ninth overall with 62 points and had a top finish of seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.82), and Sydney Walton placed sixth in the 100 butterfly in 1:12.92.
