James Wood Swimming Sweeps Clarke County

STRASBURG — The James Wood boys’ and girls’ swimming teams swept Clarke County in a non-district dual meet Monday at Signal Knob Recreation Center.

The Colonel boys won 96-68 and the girls won 91-79.

The James Wood boys were led by Conor Babington, who won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 4.53 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 58.87; and Brian Baker, who took the 200 individual medley in 2:07.09 and the 500 free in 5:32.68.

The Clarke County boys were led by Andrew Walraven, who took the 100 free in 1:00.20 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.87.

The James Wood girls were led by Erin Jackson, who took the 100 backstroke in 1:07.82, and McKenzie McNemar, who won the 100 butterfly in 1:15.33.

Those who won two individual events for the Clarke County grls were Giulia Invernizzi (the 200 free in 2:11.66 and the 500 free in 5:46.82) and Emily Deem (the 200 IM in 2:35.96 and the 100 free in 59.31).
