CHRISTIANSBURG — Sherando junior Kelsey Dingman placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle and Millbrook junior Mark Graham placed eighth in the 50 free to highlight area performances at the Group AA/A state swim meet Saturday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
Dingman recorded a time of 24.96 seconds in the 50 free, placed 14th in the 100 free in 55.84, and also anchored Sherando’s 200 free relay team of Laura Ferguson, Brenna Sharp and Christina Lee to 15th in 1:45.00.
Graham recorded a time of 22.43 in the 50 free.
In the girls’ team standings, Western Albemarle was first with 210 points, Cave Spring was second with 196, Sherando tied for 26th with 19, Handley tied for 31st with 9, and Clarke County tied for 36th with 3.
Others who placed Saturday on the girls’ side were Handley’s Liz Grove (12th in the 200 individual medley in 2:17.42, 13th in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.20) and Clarke County’s Emily Deem (14th in the 50 free in 25.20).
In the boys’ team standings, Hidden Valley was first with 195 points, Lafayette was second with 185.5, Millbrook was 39th with 11, Handley was 42nd with 4, and James Wood was 46th with 2.
Others who placed Saturday on the boys’ side were Handley’s 200 free relay team of William Yuan, Alex Johnson, Carter Watts and Taylor Watts (15th in 1:33.63) and James Wood’s Conor Babington (15th in 56.33).
