SWIMMING - Wood’s Schopick picks Macalester
WINCHESTER — Four-time state qualifier Zoe Schopick, a James Wood graduate, will continue her swimming career at Macalester College.
Macalester is an NCAA Division III school in Saint Paul, Minn. The Scots compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Conference. The team took seventh in the MIAC meet last year.
As a senior, Schopick — whose specialty is the butterfly — placed 16th at the Group 4A state meet and won the first conference championship of her career. She had the area’s best time in the 100 fly (1:08.74 in meters).
In Schopick’s first three years, she placed ninth at the state meet once and 11th twice in the fly at the state meet. She also recorded an all-state performance in the 200 individual medley when she was a sophomore, when she took eighth.
