James Wood High School 16-year-old junior

Sport: Swimming.

Main events: 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke

Parents: Sang Hua and Dawn Truong

Hometown: Winchester

Nickname: My parents call me Minh. That’s my Vietnamese name.

What do you love most about swimming: I love the competitive nature and just racing other kids that like swimming.

Most memorable moment in swimming Winning my conference [in the 100 butterfly] and my relay [400 freestyle relay] going to regionals last year.

Most embarrassing moment in swimming: When my suit fell down. It was untied and when I dove into the water it fell off. I was 10.

Three people you have dinner with, dead or alive: Bruce Lee, because he’s wise; Alexander the Great, because he’s a great military leader and Abraham Lincoln, because he’s an honest man.

If you could use a time machine, where/when would you go: I would go into the future to see what I would be doing. I’d go about 10 years.

If you could go on a trip anywhere, where would you go: I would go into outer space. It’s one of the last places we haven’t explored, yet.

Favorite teacher: My physics teacher Mr. [Joseph] Hamaker. We do cool projects and experiments in that class.

Favorite athlete: I don’t have one. I think that all people that try their hardest are worth looking up to.

Favorite movie: “Predator.”

Favorite TV show: “Breaking Bad”

Favorite song: “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin

Favorite food: Rice.

Plans after high school: I plan to go to a military service academy. If not that, I will go into physical therapy. I’m looking into the Navy and Air Force. I like leading and being an officer sounds nice. [Physical therapy] because I’m also interested in the medical field in general. Anything in that interests me.
