Swimming: Judges sweep James Wood

Winchester — Handley High School swept Friday night’s Northwestern District meet at Jim Barnett Park.

The Judges’ boys won 86-77, and Handley’s girls beat James Wood 95-75.

The Judges’ David Daylor won the 200 individual medley (2:45.07), the 100 butterfly (1:16.78), and also took first with teammates Taylor Watts, Daniel Flax and Sam Stearns in the 400 free relay (4:39.87).

Watts won the 200 freestyle (2:24.44) and the 400 freestyle.

In the girls’ meet, Hattie Schiavone won the 50 free (29.43) and 100 free (1:04.48) in a pair of state qualifying times. The Judges’ Sparkle Kitchin won the 200 free (2:21.41 with a state qualifying time) and the 400 free (5:02.52).

James Wood’s Kevin Carver won the 50 free (26.04) in a state qualifying time, and the 100 free (59.64).

The Colonels’ Kaye Whitacre took first in the 200 I.M. (2:50.43) and the 100 breaststroke (1:26.83).
