Swimming: Wood boys place 2nd at district meet
MANASSAS PARK — The Sherando girls and James Wood boys both placed second out of nine teams at Monday's Northwestern District swim meet.
The Sherando girls' team earned 151 points, 88 less points than first-place Kettle Run. Millbrook (149 points) placed third, and James Wood (142) placed fourth. Handley scored 75 points for a seventh-place finish.
The Wood boys' team scored 212 points, 22 less points than first-place Kettle Run. Millbrook (104) took fourth place, Handley (65) placed eighth and Sherando (33) placed ninth.
The following are top two finishers in each event.
Millbrook girls: Kiera Webster (2. 100 freestyle in 57.75); 1. 200 freestyle relay (Haley Butler, Aline Truong, Lauren Dennard, Webster) in 1:51.67.
Wood boys: Joe Warnagiris (1. 100 butterfly in 52.66; 1. 100 breaststroke in 1:00.31); 200 medley relay (Michael Thompson, Warnagiris, Eddie Grimes, Alex Hua); 1. 200 freestyle relay (Warnagiris, Thompson, Grimes, Hua) in 1:33.65.
Millbrook boys: Nathan Truong (2. 100 butterfly in 56.06).
