James Wood wrestlers win Horz Invitational title

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — James Wood placed seven wrestlers in the top three overall in their respective weight classes to take first place at the Max Horz Invitational at Berkeley Springs High School on Saturday.

Aaron Black (120 pounds) and Corey Lemons (126) both took first place for the Colonels. Lemons went 6-0, and Black finished 5-0.

 The Colonels won the title with 3531/2 points, finishing 381/2 points ahead of host Berkeley Springs. Clarke County (3071/2) took third, Loudoun Valley (294) followed in fourth, and Heritage (228.5) placed fifth.

James Wood’s Vince Caruso (106) and Matt Papastavrou (145) both went 6-1 to finish as runners-up.

The Colonels’ Jac Bobadilla (132, 5-2), Sam Adkins (138, 6-2) and Paul Ebersole (170, 6-2) each placed third.

Clarke County had three individual champions, including Bayne Gordon (Most Outstanding Wrestler from 106-145 pounds) and Bryan Wallace (MOW for 152-285). Gordon won at 132, Wallace won at 220, and William Heath won at 160.

Jack Smith (113 pounds) and Dawson Parrott (126) each took second for the Eagles, and Jackson Wolford (106) and Jacob Peace (285) each took third.
